Diabetes is a serious medical condition that affects millions of people in the U.S. Without proper self-management, diabetes often leads to serious complications, such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, blindness, kidney disease and lower-limb amputations.
At DMC Harper University Hospital, the Outpatient Diabetes Education program has been Recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-Management Education*. The program is individually designed to help you take control of your diabetes and prevent long term complications of the disease. The outpatient diabetes education program is open to anyone with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, newly diagnosed or longstanding. Our educators will work with you, your family and your physician to create your personal diabetes care plan.
