Spiritual Care Services
Spiritual Care Services provides spiritual and emotional support to patients, family members, friends and staff members at Harper University Hospital and Hutzel Women’s Hospital. Chaplains and volunteers are available 24 hours a day when you need:
- Someone to listen to you
- Open-hearted conversation about hope, gratitude, fear, connection and meaning
- A calm presence
- Prayers and blessings
- Connection to your faith and referrals to community resources
Services
- 24-hour confidential care
- Care and support during times of illness, injury, crisis, and loss
- Rituals such as baptism, communion, blessing and anointing of the sick
- Faith community support available through staff and volunteers who are: Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Jews, Muslims, and Seventh-day Adventists
- Assistance contacting a faith community, minister, priest or rabbi
- Consultation with the healthcare team
- Inspirational books and pamphlets
- Bereavement support and counseling
- Interfaith opportunities for worship, celebration, learning and reflection
- Catholic Mass every third Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the Hospitality Center
- Other programs include multi-faith holiday services and special events
Interfaith Reflection Center
Patients, family members, visitors and employees of any faith are welcome in the Interfaith Reflection Center. This peaceful sanctuary is available 24 hours a day for prayer, reflection, and meditation. It was built by donations from Harper University Hospital employees and physicians.
